Eight years ago, Kolkata witnessed a moment that will forever remain etched in its footballing heart, a moment where history, passion, and legacy converged. A city that lives and breathes football welcomed Diego Armando Maradona, one of the greatest icons the sport has ever known, onto its sacred footballing soil. Aditya School of Sports, under the larger vision of the Aditya Group of Schools, was deeply honoured to host the legend at its ground, embracing the opportunity with pride, humility, and purpose. As an institution committed to nurturing excellence and inspiring young athletes, Aditya School of Sports consistently looks forward to creating such meaningful encounters where global legends meet grassroots dreams.
The bond shared with Maradona extended far beyond that unforgettable day. Following his passing, Aditya School of Sports paid tribute by naming its Barasat Cricket Stadium as the Diego Maradona ASOS Cricket Stadium, a rare and historic gesture that made it the only cricket stadium in India to be named after a footballer. What unfolded during his visit, and what followed thereafter, was far more than an event or a memorial, it was a heartfelt celebration of football, aspiration, and the enduring spirit of the beautiful game.
